Instead of turning a blind eye, Isabel and Wissal decided to make a difference. Since their arrival in Marrakech in 2016, Isabel and Wissal's compassion has extended beyond dogs. Their incredible track record includes rescuing more than 60 animals, including dogs, donkeys and cats. Importantly, they undertook this noble mission without any external financial support.
Their compassionate hearts led them to rescue these abandoned animals, offering them a second chance at life. Over the years, they became pillars of support for the stray dogs, providing them with love, care and a sense of belonging. Wissal and Isabel's efforts not only transformed the lives of these dogs, but also created a ripple effect of compassion in the community. However, October 2023 marked a turning point, as the local authorities decided to kill all stray dogs in order to keep the city "beautiful" for tourists. Faced with the imminent threat of culling, Isabel and Wissal went to great lengths to hide as many dogs as possible. Their commitment to these animals went beyond words, it was a testament to their unwavering dedication.
Now, Isabel and Wissal are on a mission to find homes for these hardy strays. Despite the challenges they face, they have ensured that each dog is vaccinated, sterilised and receives the care they need. The couple's belief in the strength, loyalty and love of stray dogs is reflected in every adoption.
